The removal of Ford dash panels is a daunting task that involves not only drawing out the panels with various attachments but also loads of wires need be disengaged. Firstly, place the wheels of the car in a straight direction while locking the steering column. It basically safeguards you from potential rollover of the car while you are removing the panel. The negative terminal of the battery cable has to be disengaged with a haul. Remove bolts of the panels adjacent to the door frames and then remove the mid console. Now you have to remove the mounting clips. Just pull down the steering wheel with care.
Now the wheel has to be disconnected from the airbag, so free the mounting bolts of the wheel. Remove the entire electrical switches carefully. Take out the fastening bolts of the shaft as well and save them aside to be used again; don’t miss any one of them. Remove the wheel with the help of a puller.
Next step in removing the Ford dash panels is to take off the instrument panel positioned above the steering followed by the bezel of the panel. Remove the bolts holding the steering column and save them aside as they will be reused later. With a trim tool take off the fasteners positioned underneath. Now mindfully take out the panel and disengage the electrical switches.
The glove box positioned in front of the passenger’s seat has to be removed also. So remove the bolts placed if any. The airbag for the passenger has to be disengaged from the electrical switches as well. Perform all these steps cautiously not to damage the car’s airbags at all. Then disconnect the airbag control along with rest of the modules or controls fixed to the Ford dash panels. Raise the panel to remove the fixed vents and disengage the electrical switches. No fasteners or clips have to be taken off now, just use your hands to pull off the dash panel easily. Later on you have to fix each component and control back to its original place with their respective bolts and clips that were saved aside earlier. Just follow the reverse course for the reinstallation process.
