We will be arriving at base camp on Tuesday October 6th. This camp is on a 40 acre parcel that has been leased by local resident Kelly Taylor. The parcel is located adjacent to the main road so access is easy. There are no services or "hook-ups" at camp. Really did you think that going on a trip called "Extreme Outlaw Rides" would have power, phone, cable tv, or internet?? No way, we are so far out in the remote area of Southern Utahs canyon country that you rarely even see a crow fly over head. This is rugged outlaw country and it is a sight to behold! So back to the camping, lock into 4 wheel drive and pull into the area that you want for camp. There is plenty of water at the spring that is within walking distance. This spring is at the head of the famous Blue John Canyon (google it). Blue John is a local outlaw with quite a colorful past! We will tell you his story as we ride past this famous canyon! Open fires are permitted while camping. Horse will need to be tied to your trailers as there are no corrals at site. Breakfast and dinners will be served at camp.Basic cowboy food is what we fix. Eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes for breakfast. We will provide a sack lunch for you for each day. Dinner is again basic cowboy food.

Dutch oven something, usually chicken, mutton (sheep), potatoes and a few other vegetables mixed in, followed by an amazing dutch oven cobbler desert (peach most of the time). Please if you are not ok with "basic cowboy food" bring whatever you like, cause basic cowboy food is all we know how to make. Remember all food is included in package price, even if you dont eat it!!
Report of the 2008 Horseshoe Canyon Ride.
WOW did we have a great time, yes it was filled with spectacular views and the best weather possible, as a matter of fact you could not have asked for better weather! The ride started out as usual, great dutch oven dinner around a tremendous campfire! Les Draper did another magnificent job with the dinner!! Pork chops, potatoes, corn on the cob followed up with fresh baked dinner rolls. As if that wasn't enough Les put us all deep in our chairs around the fire after serving us all fresh peach cobbler. While we all sat by the fire rubbing our now stuffed bellies Les and local resident Dee Hatch entertained us with some old time cowboy music and a bit of story telling. What a wonderful evening! The moon was full and the cool desert high top air felt good!
